Lysora Captive Portal Creation and Validation

Requirements / Before You Begin

• Lysora access point.

• Connection to Internet Service Provider or network server hosting the address of the captive portal.

Procedure

1. Step 1: Access the Captive Portal Menu

Log in to your Lysora Cloud dashboard and select your project from the navigation pane.
Go to Configuration, select All > Authentication, and click on Captive Portal.
Click Add Captive Portal to create a new authentication policy.

2. Step 2: Configure Policy Details and Mode

Enter a name for your policy.
Choose your policy mode. Lysora Cloud offers three primary authentication modes:

Cloud Authentication: Uses the built-in Lysora Cloud server. Select your target network range or the specific AP SSID.
Local Authentication: Authenticates directly on your local hardware device while synchronizing settings with the cloud.
External Authentication: Redirects users to a third-party external server using protocols like Wi-Fi Dog or Whisper.

3. Step 3: Set Up the Portal Page and Credentials

Select or create a custom portal page design (adding logos, welcome messages, or terms of service).
Choose your login option, such as voucher-based access or local user accounts.
If using vouchers or accounts, create them under Configuration > All Authentication > User Management.

Verification

In order to determine if your captive portal is connected properly you can use the wifi settings on your PC or phone to connect to the SSID. Upon successful connection you should be redirected to the webpage.

Notes / Troubleshooting

The option above the Image of the captive portal on the customization screen determines what kind of portal is being created: either mobile client or PC web client.
