This guide provides instructions on how to control a Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) camera using the 485 protocol. This method is commonly used for managing PTZ cameras, particularly speed domes, by connecting them directly to an NVR. The guide covers the necessary steps for physical connection, configuration, and control of the PTZ camera.
Physical Connection
Locate the 485 control line on the speed dome camera. Connect the control line to the A/B interface on the back panel of the NVR.
These connections allow the NVR to send control signals to the PTZ camera via the 485 protocol, ensuring stable and reliable communication between the NVR and the PTZ camera, enabling full control of the camera's movements.
Access the PTZ settings on the NVR.
Setting > Camera > PTZ
Configure the PTZ settings:
Channel: Select the channel where the speed dome is connected.
Type: Choose Local.
Serial Port.Protocol: Choose DH-SD1. If using a speed dome from another brand, select the appropriate protocol such as PELCOD or PELCOP.
Address: The default address is 1. If multiple speed domes are used, distinguish each by setting a unique address through the hardware dial switch.
Baud Rate: The default is 9600, which can be adjusted via the hardware dial switch on the speed dome.
Transmission Distance:
Leave other parameters at their default values. Click Apply to save the settings. These settings ensure that the NVR correctly communicates with the PTZ camera, allowing precise control over its movements and enabling smooth operation and control of the PTZ camera through the NVR interface.
Go back to the Main Menu, Live, and select PTZ Control. Use the PTZ control interface to manage the camera’s pan, tilt, and zoom functions.
By following these steps, you can effectively control a PTZ camera through the 485 protocol using your NVR. This setup allows for enhanced surveillance capabilities, providing detailed monitoring and precise camera control.
