To add your Wireless Access Point using a mesh topology and do not want the WAP to be hard wired to the network you will need to put the WAP into Repeater Mode and to do that you must access the WAP

 

First you will need to turn your WIFI scanner on first and search for the WDS (Wireless Distribution System) SSID shown with the last 4 digits of the MAC address

Note: This example uses @Ruijie-s7DBC

Once connected you will not have internet access but you will be able to access the WAP using the default IP address

Default IP: 192.168.120.1

Once logging into the WAP you will be meet with the Wireless Repeater option, select it and let it scan for a SSID to attach itself to

Once scan has been completed you will select the correct SSID

If SSID has a password the next page is where you will enter it

Note: In this example our text network is Open and does not need a password to be input

 

 

 

Allow for connection to happen and once it has completed you can test by conducting a speed test

Note: You can also check by scanning for networks again and checking to see if the WDS SSID has disappeared after about an hour

If using other Ruijie Reyee products and you have already created a project within the cloud you will see that the WAP will automatically be added to the Network Topology
