How to install a Diode on a Door Strike:
The majority of Door Strikes will require a diode to be installed when used with an Access Controller. This prevents electrical kickback and damage to your electronic Access Control Terminal. The diode will disapate any electrical charge on its way back towards the access control terminal, preventing an electrical surge from entering the access controller causing possible damage.
Diodes have an Anode (Stripe end) and a Cathode (No Stripe or markings)
Anode (+) Side Cathode (-) Side
Typically you'd only need to install a diode when using a Door Strike that requires power to unlock. The below reference image you can see the position of installation. The Cathode (-) side connects to the Positive side of the lock and the Anode (+) side connects to the Negative side of the lock.
