How to Set Up RTMP on an IP Camera (WEB 5.0)

Access the Camera Interface

  • Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the camera.
  • Log in using your camera’s admin credentials.

Navigate to the RTMP Settings

  • Go to the Settings or Setup menu.
  • Find the Network section, then look for RTMP settings. The exact menu names may vary depending on your camera model and firmware version.

Enable RTMP

  • In the RTMP settings, enable the RTMP function if it is not already enabled.

Configure RTMP Server Details

  • Enter the RTMP server URL. This is typically provided by your streaming platform (e.g., YouTube, Facebook Live) or your own RTMP server.
  • The URL will usually look something like this: rtmp://yourserver.com/live/streamkey

Set Up Stream Parameters

  • Specify the stream name or key as required by your RTMP server. This is usually part of the URL provided by your streaming platform.
  • Adjust any additional settings like video resolution, bitrate, and frame rate according to your requirements and the capabilities of your streaming platform.

Save and Apply Settings

  • Save the changes and apply the new settings. The camera might need to restart for the changes to take effect.

Test the RTMP Stream

  • Once the settings are applied, test the RTMP stream by going to your streaming platform or RTMP server’s monitoring interface to ensure the stream is being received correctly.

  • Here’s an example for configuring an IP camera to stream to YouTube Live:
    • RTMP Server URL: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2
    • Stream Key: You will get this key from your YouTube Live dashboard. It should be appended to the RTMP Server URL as /your-stream-key.
  • So, the full URL you would enter in the camera’s RTMP settings might look like: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2/your-stream-key

Additional Tips

  • Firmware Update: Ensure your Dahua IP camera firmware is up-to-date to support the latest features and fixes.
  • Network Configuration: Make sure your network allows outgoing RTMP traffic. You might need to configure your router or firewall to allow RTMP streaming.
  • Bandwidth Consideration: Ensure you have sufficient upload bandwidth to handle the streaming bitrate you set in the camera.
