How to Set Up and Configure Face Recognition on Titanium NVRs

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on setting up the Face Recognition feature on Titanium NVRs, specifically for models that support alarm triggers based on face comparison. If your device does not support face recognition, you can skip the face database and face recognition instructions. These settings are available only on firmware versions 1.4.9 and 1.4.10.

Face Recognition Setup

Access Face Detection Settings:
Login > Function Panel > AI/Event > AI Event > Face Recognition Detection. Select the camera, check “Enable Detection by IPC,” and set the detection duration.

Note:

  • Some models may support face detection by the NVR, allowing cameras without AI functions to detect faces through the NVR. However, enabling face detection by NVR for a non-AI camera disables people/vehicle perimeter detection and vice-versa.
  • Some AI cameras support event type classification. If the event type isn’t set to face event, enable it by navigating to Start > Settings > AI/Event > Enable Event. After the camera restarts, you can enable face detection by the IPC.

Configure Schedule
Set the detection schedule by clicking “Manage.” Refer to Schedule Settings for details.

Configure Snapshot
Configure the snapshot interval and the number of snapshots the camera should take during the detection period. Enable face match exposure if needed, which is helpful in low-light conditions.

Set Alarm Area and Face Size:
Draw the detection area by dragging the mouse. Set the detectable face size by defining the maximum and minimum values. Enable the “Original picture” and/or “Target picture” settings to save images on the SD card. Click “Apply” to save the settings.

Apply and Configure Alarm Linkage:
Select “Trigger Mode” to configure the face detection alarm linkage.

  • Voice Prompt: Upload an audio file in the local audio alarm interface.
  • Record: Configure cameras to start recording automatically when a face is detected.
  • Snapshot: Capture images automatically upon detection.
  • Alarm-out: Configure the system to trigger alarm outputs.
  • Push Notifications: Send alerts to connected devices.
  • Buzzer: Activate a buzzer sound.
  • Pop-up Video: Display the corresponding video upon detection.
  • Email Alerts: Send an email with the captured face and original image attached.

If supported, enable “IPC_Audio” or “IPC_Light” for additional alarm responses.

Manage Face Database

Add Face Groups:
Navigate to Start > Settings > AI/Event > AI Event > Face Recognition > Face Database

Add Faces to Groups:
Save face images to a USB storage device, then connect it to the NVR.

Import/Export Face Database:
Use the “Import and Export” option to transfer face database settings between NVRs via USB storage devices.

Configure Face Recognition Settings

Enable Recognition:
After adding faces to the database, go to the face recognition setting interface. Enable “Successful Recognition” or “Stranger” detection.

Set Recognition Parameters:
Configure similarity thresholds, disable live display if needed, and set alarm linkage items for successful or stranger recognitions. Configure text and voice prompts to alert you when a match is found or a stranger is detected.

Set Alarm Linkage for Strangers:
Configure the system to trigger alarms when a stranger is detected (i.e., a face that doesn't match any in the database or has a lower similarity score). Set up the necessary schedule and alarm responses.

Add/Delete Recognition Tasks:
Add new recognition tasks as needed by clicking “+”. To remove a task, select it and click “–”.
