How to Set Face Recognition (WEB 5.0)
This knowledge base article provides detailed instructions on setting up the Face Recognition function for devices using the WEB 5.0 firmware. Face Recognition is essential for identifying and comparing facial images to a database, enabling enhanced security and access control.
The Face Recognition function is designed to compare detected faces against a pre-configured database, triggering alarms or actions based on the comparison results. This is crucial for applications such as security monitoring, access control, and attendance tracking. By accurately identifying individuals, it enhances security, prevents unauthorized access, and streamlines management processes.
Steps to Set Face Recognition
Face Recognition: When a face is detected in the area, the system compares the captured face image with the information in the face database and links the alarm according to the comparison result.
Step 1: Login to your device.

Step 2: Select AI on the Homepage.

Step 3: Smart Plan > Face Recognition > Next.

Step 4: Select the detection mode:
- General Mode: When a face is detected in the detection area, the system performs alarm linkage, such as recording and sending emails.
- Counting Mode: Allows precise face counting with two default function databases (all people database and exclude people database).
Step 5: Click next to Enable to activate the face detection function

Step 6: Draw detection areas, exclusion areas, and filter targets in the image as needed.
Step 7: Configure Parameters
Parameter Descriptions:
Step 8: Click Face Database Config on the Face Recognition page to configure the face database for comparison.
Step 9: Click Add and set the name of the database. Click OK to create the database.
Step 10: Manage the face database, including adding, editing, and deleting faces.
Step 11: Click Arming Alarm to configure alarm parameters.
Step 12: Click to manage the face database. You can search for faces, register new ones, batch register, perform modeling on all, model individually, and delete faces.
Step 13: Delete database.
Add Face Picture: Supports single adding and batch importing.
- Face Picture Requirements: Size 50Kâ150K in JPEG format, resolution less than 1080p, face size 30%â60% of the whole picture, pixel no less than 100 pixels between the ears.
Step 14: Face Database Config > Details >Register
Step 15: Click Upload, select a face picture, and click Confirm.
Step 16: Upload and register face pictures.
- Enter information about the face picture as needed and click
Add to task list.
Step 17: Verify everything was stored. Task List > Operation
Step 18: Batch Importing (optional)
Face Modeling
Face modeling is the process of creating a digital representation of a person's face using advanced algorithms to capture features like contours, shapes, and textures. This digital model is used in facial recognition systems, animation, medical applications, virtual reality, and photography to ensure accuracy and detail for various practical and creative purposes.
Step 19: Face Modeling
When the modeling status shows "Valid" in the list or is displayed at the lower-left corner of the thumbnail, it indicates that the modeling was successful.

Handling Modeling Failures
When the modeling status shows "Invalid" in the list or is displayed at the lower-left corner of the thumbnail, it indicates that the modeling failed. Hover over the modeling status in the list to view the details of the failure. Adjust the pictures according to these details and try again.
